Tea Party meeting to feature discussion on Second Amendment

MAYFIELD TWP. — The Lapeer County Tea Party invites the public to its next general meeting — to be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Mayfield Township Hall, 1900 N. Saginaw Rd.

The meeting will include a forum discussion on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and Article 1, Section 6 of the 1963 Michigan Constitution. Tuesday’s panel will include: Lapeer County Prosecutor Michael Sharkey, Lapeer County Sheriff Scott McKenna, Sen. Kevin Daley, several Lapeer County commissioners and Harry Akers, a proponent of a resolution to declare Lapeer County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary County.

Wii Bowling Tournament on Feb. 21 at PIX Theatre

LAPEER — The PIX Theatre on the big screen will host its first-ever Wii Bowling Tournament at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21. Space is limited to 20 players. The tournament will be a bracket-style elimination tournament until the winner is declared. The series was designed especially for youth ages 8-16.

Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters Feb. 22

LAPEER — Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters will be delight audiences at the PIX Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 during a special tribute group performance.

2020 Spring Expo vendor registration open

LAPEER — Now in its seventh year, the Lapeer Community Spring Expo will be held Sunday, April 19 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Center for Innovation. The Expo was created by the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce for local businesses and organizations to market directly to the consumer and as a free family friendly community event.

The event hosts more than 100 vendors. Attendance has grown to welcome more than 2,000 guests per year. Vendor space for this year’s Expo is available to any business or organization interested in benefitting from this consumer-direct marketing event.

Vendor registration forms are available on the chamber’s website at www.lapeerareachamber.org or at the Chamber office, 108 W. Park Street. Vendor space is on a first-come, first-served basis.
