Metamora lights tree tonight

METAMORA — Thursday, Dec. 5 will see the Village of Metamora’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

Second-graders from Murphy Elementary will be singing and counting down to light the tree at 7 p.m. in Harmer Park. The Metamora Lions Club will be set up in the park with hot cocoa and cookies. After the lighting, volunteers from Metamora Fire & Rescue will help guests cross the street to visit the Historic Old Town Hall to see Santa.

Holiday card, gift tag workshop at Lapeer library

LAPEER — The Lapeer District Library’s (LDL) Marguerite deAngeli Branch (921 W. Nepessing St.) will present a holiday card and gift tag workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. Experts will be on hand during the event to help with the projects. All materials will be provided.

This event is open to teens and adults. Registration is required and spots are limited. Call LDL’s Reference Desk at 810-664-6971.

Spaghetti dinner planned for Dryden Twp. firefighter

DRYDEN — Dryden Township Fire Dept. Firefighter Ralph Starke was diagnosed with cancer that required surgery, then he lost his job. Starke’s fellow firefighters are stepping up to give him a hand by holding a benefit spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11. at the Dryden Wesleyan Church, 5274 Main St., Dryden. Firefighters are asking for a $10 a plate donation.

Along with the spaghetti dinner, Dryden firefighters will be holding a 50/50 raffle and silent auction.

Goodland library to hold cookie decorating event

GOODLAND TWP. — The Goodland Township Library will hold its annual cookie decorating day from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11 at the library, 2370 North Van Dyke Rd.

You bring the creativity and homemade cookies and the library will supply the frostings and many kinds of sprinkles.
