Winter Playground to be held Nov. 30 in downtown Imlay City

IMLAY CITY — The 2018 Winter Playground will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 in downtown Imlay City. Santa will make his grand entrance during the parade that begins at 6 p.m., lead the community tree lighting ceremony and visit with children.

The parade will start at the Farmers’ Market parking lot and loop through downtown. Immediately following the parade the community Christmas tree, located at the police station, will be lit with a ceremony that ushers in the holiday season to Imlay City. Santa will visit with children following the parade, and Mrs. Claus will read stories to children at Imlay City Florist.

Complimentary horse-drawn wagon rides will originate from the Farmers’ Market parking lot. Other holiday activities include a children’s craft and story time stations, a warming station that will provide warm beverages and treats, marshmallow roasting, face painting, a balloon twister and free glow necklaces to kids under the age of 12.

The Ruth Hughes Library will host a “Snow Much Fun” event during the Winter Playground. Families can enjoy two snowthemed crafts, a snow making station and snowy activity books for everyone.

American Red Cross to hold local blood drives

LAPEER COUNTY — The American Red Cross will hold blood drives:

• Nov. 19 — From 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Mott Community College, 550 Lake Drive, Suite A;

• Nov. 19 — From 2-6:45 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4139, 128 Daley Rd. in Mayfield Township;

• Nov. 23 — From 1-6:45 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1405 N. Van Dyke Rd. in Imlay Township;

• Nov. 29 — From 2-6:45 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1310 N. Main St. in Lapeer.
