Dryden to hold Christmas Lights Parade on Dec. 13

DRYDEN — Dryden’s third annual Christmas Lights Parade will step off at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Dryden Elementary School.

However, Amy Barger, the Dryden Fire Department’s administrative assistant, will accept entries right up until the parade forms up at 6 p.m.

So far the parade not including fire trucks, has five entries, but Barger added there is always a last-minute rush. She said every year the parade ends up with a dozen or so entries.

Barger said there just a few simple rules for parade participation. First, no Santas and no political or promotional themes. She said the firefighters don’t want children confused by multiple Santas followed by the real one on the fire truck.

Other than that, parade entries should be creative, innovative and decorated with lights.

At the end of the parade, which concludes with Santa holding forth in the equipment bay at the downtown fire station, Dryden revelers will be able to sip hot cocoa and munch on popcorn and hot dogs while waiting to get a photo with Santa.
