Remote control airplane club to host annual picnic on June 15 at flying field

MAYFIELD TWP. — The Lapeer County Remote Control Wing Nuts Club (model airplanes) invites the public to its annual picnic on Saturday, June 15 (rain date June 22) at its flying field on Fred Sawgle Drive, off Davis Lake Road (just west of Lapeer County Road Commission garage) in Mayfield Township.

Members will arrive around 9 a.m., and flying will start around 10 a.m. It’s possible a club member will have a trainer plane that visitors will have an opportunity to fly.

Sale to benefit missions

LAPEER — Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer, 1310 N. Main (across from hospital), will host Marketplace for Missions on Wednesday and Thursday, June 5-6 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday, June 7 from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. Vendors will sell books, puzzles, toys as well as holiday décor, antiques and jewelry and tools.

Proceeds will benefit mission programs.

Weekly soup kitchens

LAPEER COUNTY — Weekly soup kitchens across Lapeer County are held:

MONDAY: St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St. in Imlay City from 4-5:30 p.m.; and Trinity United Methodist Church, 1310 N. Main in Lapeer from 4-5:30 p.m.;

TUESDAY: Grace Episcopal Church, 735 W. Nepessing in Lapeer from 4-5 p.m.;

WEDNESDAY: St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St. in Imlay City from 4-5:30 p.m.; Lapeer Church of Christ, 1680 N. Lapeer from 5-6 p.m.;

THURSDAY: Lapeer Presbyterian Church, 433 N. Calhoun in Lapeer from 4-5 p.m.;

FRIDAY: St. Paul Lutheran Church, 90 Millville Rd. in Lapeer from 4-5 p.m.
