Lapeer District Library celebrates National Library Week

LAPEER — The Lapeer District Library (LDL) will celebrate National Library Week starting Sunday, April 7 through Saturday, April 13. This year, LDL will give visitors the opportunity to win gift cards to local businesses by answering library-related trivia questions.

Anyone who wants to participate can stop into any LDL branch during the week to answer trivia questions. Each correct answer will be an entry into a drawing of choice for a local business. Each participant can enter up to five times.

Winners will be chosen the following week and will be contacted to pick up their prize. There will also be a daily question posted on the LDL Facebook page for a chance at prizes as well.

National Library Week is celebrated every year by libraries around the United States, and is used to showcase the important role they play. National Library Week was started in 1958 by the American Library Association. This year’s theme is Libraries = Strong Communities, and according to ALA, “illustrates how today’s libraries are at the heart of our cities, towns, schools and campuses, providing critical resources, programs and expertise.”

For more information about National Library Week, contact any local LDL branch.

The Lapeer District Library and the Family Literacy Center are partners for literacy. The Lapeer District Library serves 60,006 residents throughout Lapeer County.
