Stone’s Throw Theatre to present ‘It’s Too Darn Hot’

LAPEER — Back by popular demand, and for the fun of it too, Stone’s Throw Theater (STT) will present another dinner show cabaret “It’s Too Darn Hot!” celebrating the end of summer with an evening of songs and stories of all things summer, hot, heat, smoldering and possibly unbearable.

STT’s “It’s Too Darn Hot” will take place at The Gallery at Beyer’s Furniture at 423 W Nepessing St. in downtown Lapeer on Saturday, Aug. 25 with dinner seating at 6 p.m. and showtime at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for the “Dinner and a Show” Combo and $15 for show only. Tickets can be purchased at www.stonesthrowtheater.org or by calling 810-660-7805.

“This past February we did a dinner show cabaret for Valentine’s Day and had a great time, so we thought, ‘let’s do another one,’ and load it with summer/heat-inspired songs,” said Stone’s Throw Theater founder Tony Stroh-Piechowski.

Seating is limited for this one night only show. Thirty tickets are available for “Dinner and a Show,” with dinner, catered by E.G. Nick’s, being served in the Beyer’s Furniture Showroom then moving over to the Gallery Space for a Cabaret Show. The meal will include lighter summer fare with grilled chicken Caesar salad, cold gazpacho soup and the breadsticks. An additional 30 tickets will be available for the show only.

“Once again we are fortunate to have the talents of some of mid- Michigan’s most talented young Musical Theater Artists,” said Stroh- Piechowski. “Not only are there some Lapeer performers in the mix, we have been able to recruit some talent from the greater Flint and metro Detroit musical theatre communities as well.”

The performance of “It’s Too Darn Hot” is slated to feature several Stone’s Throw Theater veterans, including Annika Andersson, Julie Hugunin, Frank Pitts, Grace Rosen, Andrew Scheps, Tom Sparrow and Tony Stroh, as well as newcomers James Busam, Shelby Coleman, Brandon Kastell, MP Reiffel and Cade Surface.

Production sponsors for this event include Beyer’s Furniture, Lakestone Bank & Trust, The County Press, E.G. Nick’s, Aspen Creek Studios, Beautiful U Salon and Spa, Jocuns Law Offices, Kapala Heating and Cooling, The Lapeer Agency, The Lapeer Downtown Development Authority, The Lapeer County Vision Center and Mollie’s Clay Vessels.
