You’re invited to ‘Party at the Ponds’ on Saturday

DRYDEN TWP. — Naturalists and staff at Seven Ponds Nature Center in Dryden Township invite area families to join them for ‘Party at the Ponds’ from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11. Admission and all activities are free.

The day will include complimentary snacks and beverages, history displays and interpretations throughout the building as well as a children’s area with old-time games and activities. Members will be on hand from each of the Seven Ponds clubs: astronomy, photography, beekeepers, birding, Friends of Herbs, Stingers and Butterfly Gardens.


There will be naturalist-led trail walks at Paul’s Woods at 2 p.m., North 80 at 5 p.m. and A-frame bridge at 8 p.m.

• Field netting: butterflies, grasshoppers, beetles and more at 1 and 6 p.m.;

• Pond dipping: snails, boatman, nymphs and more at 3 and 7 p.m.;

• Golf Cart Tours: 1, 4 and 7 p.m.;

• Canoeing the Ponds: 2, 4, and 6 p.m.;

• Prairie Wagon Rides: 1, 3, 5, 7 p.m.;

• Bonfire & S’mores: 7:30-9 p.m.

Note: Golf cart tours, canoeing and prairie wagon rides have limited space and require advance signup the day of the event.
