Autism support organization to host garage sale fundraiser July 14

LAPEER — You’ll never know what you might find at the upcoming Forever Friends Network Garage Sale fundraiser.

Held Saturday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Garage Sale represents the autism support organization’s second-largest fundraiser of the year, and according to FFN founder Regina Starr, donations of items have been pouring in, making the event a prime spot for people in search of good deals. All proceeds benefit Forever Friends Network and allow for the organization’s services to families affected by autism.

“We’ve had so many people wanting to donate,” said Starr. “All donations have come from the community.” Starr said among the items that will be for sale during the event are household items, clothing, tools, bicycles, dishware, camping and sporting equipment and furniture. “There’s something for everybody,” Starr said. “Lots of stuff, it’s getting big.”

Forever Friends Network is located at 323 Jefferson St. in Lapeer, and is a 24/7 support group for friends and families that have a child or a loved one on the Autism Spectrum. The group’s “socials,” or community time held at the facility on Jefferson Street, offer peer to peer support and parent to parent support. Money raised during the Garage Sale fundraiser will go toward continuing the FFN mission to provide these socializing events as well as educational parent support groups and workshops held throughout the year.

For more information on FFN, or to donate an item for the group’s Garage Sale fundraiser, call 810-623-2041 or email Starr at reginastrr@yahoo.com.
