LAPEER — The Lapeer Days festival, Michigan’s largest free festival, is set for Aug. 17-19 in downtown Lapeer, and will again be offering the unmistakable sights, smells and sounds that come with it every summer. And the sounds this year are sure to please.

The Lapeer Days committee hand-selects the festival’s main stage entertainment, and always makes an attempt to maintain a blend of entertainment, always ensuring that there’s something for everybody. Friday through Sunday, the festival’s main stage acts will consist of country musicians, rock and blues acts, gospel performances, and a combination thereof.

On Friday night, country duo Maddie & Tae will play the main stage from 10:30 p.m. to midnight, sponsored by View Newspaper Group and Lakestone Bank & Trust. Maddie & Tae struck an immediate chord with audiences after releasing their hit, “Girl in a Country Song.” Taking their music to the road, they anchored Dierks Bentley’s Sounds of Summer Tour in 2015, then headlined their own sold-out Start Here Tour before releasing their next single, “Shut Up and Fish.”

Saturday evening will feature headliner Saliva playing the main stage on Saturday night from 10:30 p.m. to midnight, sponsored by Hurley Medical Center. After acquiring new front man Bobby Amaru in 2011, Saliva was infused with the same spirit that first launched the heavy rock band’s career in 2001 with their double-platinum album Every Six Seconds. Their first album contained the hit singles “Click Click Boom” and Grammy-nominated “Your Disease.” Saliva’s in-your-face, anthemic writing style continued with their follow-up album, Back in Your System with hits like “Always,” “Raise Up” and “Rest in Pieces.”

Sunday morning will feature headlining gospel artist Mark Bishop, playing the main stage from noon to 1:30 p.m., sponsored by Baker College and Flint Area School Employees Credit Union. Mark Bishop has one of the most distinctive voices in all of gospel music. He is also regarded as one of the preeminent gospel songwriters of his generation. His songs have been recorded by several of today’s most popular gospel music groups.

The Lapeer Days Festival is produced by the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with major sponsors View Newspaper Group and Hurley Medical Center.
