LAPEER — The Gallery at 194 will be stocked to the ceiling with art created by the best of Lapeer County this weekend. The Lapeer Art Association is proud to announce their Spring Into Art exhibition at Gallery 194 in Lapeer. This show opens on April 17 and runs through May 25. The Gallery and LAA gift shop are open Tuesday thru Saturday from 12-6 p.m.

“LAA will fill the gallery for this one and we have many guest artists joining us as well,” said LAA member Rhonda Porzadek. “We will have something for everyone.” The Spring show will also feature two cash prizes awarded to Best in Show, as well as honorable mention ribbons. The theme for this year’s exhibit is “Spring into Art,” said Prozadek. “So that leaves a lot of interpretation open to the artist.”

The LAA will also hold a free, public opening reception on Friday, April 20 from 5-7 p.m. The public is invited to visit Gallery 194 and have a look at the newest art exhibit, have some appetizers and wine, and talk to the artists who made it happen. In addition to regular LAA members, the exhibit will also feature art from over a dozen guest artists. And at a limit of five pieces per artist, Porzadek estimates that the exhibit will feature upwards of 200 pieces of unique art. “Our reception will be a catered event, and in addition to being open and free to the public, we have invited some of the prominent figures in Lapeer County,” said Porzadek.

The Spring Exhibit and the LAA Holiday Show, said Porzadek, are the two “big shows” on the LAA schedule, during which the entirety of Gallery 194 is utilized, instead of only the upper gallery and gift shop. “We are able to be more creative with the hanging and placement of the show, as well as give the opportunity to the community and non-members to be involved in the local art exhibition,” said Porzadek.
