DENNIS JOSEPH SCHULTE, 81, of Hadley for 32 years (formerly of Detroit), died Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

He was born December 21, 1936, in Detroit, to parents Walter Anthony and Mary Christine (Lavell) Schulte, Jr.

Mr. Schulte proudly served his country in the

U.S. Navy from 1955-1963. He married Barbara A. Baranski Curry on November 13, 1982 in Detroit. Denny worked for the Wayne County Road Commission, at Detroit Metro Airport, in the Project Director’s Office. He helped oversee federal contracts regarding construction of taxiways, runways and other airport infrastructure. Mr. Schulte enjoyed time with family, traveling, golfing and more golfing. Denny was a big sports fan, especially Tiger Baseball, Red Wing Hockey and Detroit Lion’s Football.

Denny is survived by his wife, Barbara Schulte of Hadley; step-son, Michael (Joan) Curry of Northville; grandchildren, Samantha, Adam and Evelyn; and brother, Leroy (MaryAnn) Schulte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Schulte, Jr.; and brothers, Marvin Schulte and Ronald Schulte.

Mr. Schulte’s funeral mass will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, from 10-11 a.m. Father Joseph Tuskiewicz will officiate the service, which will be followed immediately by military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard. Cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer.
