SHIRLEY MAE BADER, 89, lifetime Lapeer resident, died Sunday February 18, 2018.

She was born

John and Evelyn

(Stroup) Weir.

Shirley married

Calvin Bader on

October 7, 1946 in

Toledo, OH.

Mrs. Bader was a telephone operator at the former Oakdale Center, Lapeer, retiring in 1987. She really enjoyed traveling, biking, gardening and playing cards. Walking was an important pastime of Shirley’s, she even did the Mackinac Bridge walk x8 times. She enjoyed being a member, as well as the ladies in the Order of the Eastern Star, Lapeer. She loved giggling through stories of her ‘brush with fame’; one that she was the first runner up on the former TV program “Queen for a Day,” she met Don Ho and danced with Guy Lombardi. Shirley loved her family and will be missed.

Mrs. Bader is survived by her children, Ron (Annette) Bader of Hudson, IN, Vicki Kelley of Lapeer, Terry (Kathy) Bader of Marine City, Karen (Les) Redmond of Lapeer, Kevin (Christena) Bader of Hayden, AL; 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Dwight Weir of Lapeer and Sandra Diehl of FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin (in 2015); great-grandchild, Peter Ziegler; sister, Eleanor Balch; as well as her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star (1685 N. Saginaw St., Lapeer 48446).

Shirley’s funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday February 22, 2018 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer, officiated by Pastor Drew Jolly. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer.
