Goodland Twp. Library to forgive overdue book fines

GOODLAND TWP. — During the week of Jan. 15-20 the Goodland Township Library will celebrate Fine Forgiveness Week. Any patrons who return overdue books to the library during regular library hours will have their overdue fines forgiven.

Library staff would like to get their books back and have patron’s accounts back in good standing. Library hours are Monday from 2-7 p.m., Wednesday from 2-7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 3-7 p.m.

Cottage Food Law class offered on Jan. 23

LAPEER TWP. — Area residents are invited to attend an informational session regarding the Cottage Food Law enacted in 2010 — a law that allows individuals to manufacture and store certain types of foods in an unlicensed home kitchen.

The session will be held Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the John T. Rich Building, 1800 Imlay City Rd. in Lapeer Township. Preregistration is required. Cost is $10.

Grace Episcopal Church to serve community dinner on Jan. 26

LAPEER — Grace Episcopal Church, 735 W. Nepessing in Lapeer, will serve a community dinner from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at the church. The meal will include meatloaf and mashed potatoes, vegetables, beverage and dessert.

A free will offering will be accepted.

MSU Extension to offer training for food workers

LAPEER TWP. — The Lapeer County Michigan State University Extension will offer ServSafe training on Monday, Jan. 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ServSafe program was developed by the National Restaurant Association.

Fee is $75 and covers: control time and temperature when handling food, ensuring proper personal hygiene, preventing cross contamination, proper cleaning and sanitizing. The upcoming course is designed for frontline food service handlers, and will be held at the John T. Rich building, 1800 Imlay City Rd., Lapeer Township.
