Registration will begin at 11 a.m., with the tournament kickoff at noon. Play will be divided between three divisions — elite, novice and student — with a guaranteed $1,000 in prize money.

The LEADER Fund, which stands for Lapeer Education & Athletic Development Expense Resource, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was formed in May of 2015 with the mission of financially supporting academic and athletic endeavors within the Lapeer Community Schools in order to assist students and faculty in their pursuit of excellence. The organization has assisted Lapeer Community Schools in the funding of the new athletic complex, providing academic scholarships to leaders in the senior class as well as being a funding resource for academic endeavors, athletic groups and faculty.

“All of the events and fundraisers we do for the LEADER Fund all benefit Lapeer Community Schools, both academically and athletically,” said Kyle Beane, the secretary for the LEADER Fund. “We don’t necessarily earmark the funds from our events for anything specific, and instead leave it up to the schools to determine where the funds are needed, but all funds and proceeds go towards supporting the students in Lapeer schools. From scholarships to projects to supplies to athletics, our events are all dedicated to the schools in our community.”

Cost to enter the tournament is $50 per team of adults and $25 per team of students. There are four ways to register: 1. Visit www.LeaderFundLapeer.com; 2. Mail a registration form (available at local businesses) to Lapeer Community Schools, c/o LEADER Fund, 250 E. Second Street, Lapeer 48446; 3. Email registration info to LeaderFund@ Lapeerschools.org; 4. Text “cornhole” to 810-441-7336 and someone will contact you for the information on your team. All checks should be made payable to the LEADER Fund.

Beer, wine and refreshments will be available throughout the event, held at the Center Building located at 425 County Center St. in Lapeer. The LEADER Fund is supported by major annual sponsors Baker College, Flint Area School Employees Credit Union, Jim Riehl Friendly Automotive Group, Lakestone Bank & Trust, McLaren Lapeer Region, ZF and View Newspaper Group.
