ELBA TWP. — The 25th annual Taste of Lapeer will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 12) at the Lapeer Country Club in support of Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Assault (LACADA) programs.

This year’s restaurants include EG Nick’s, Louie’s Sports Tavern, the Lapeer Country Club, Country Smoke House, the Lake Inn, the Metamora Country Club, Ashby’s Sterling Ice Cream Parlor, the Huntsman, North Branch Bakery, Sagano’s and MAD Bread and Pastry.

“What’s exciting this year is it’s our 25th Taste of Lapeer, it’s really exciting that we’ve reached that level of an anniversary,” said Tracey Walker, executive director of LACADA. According to Walker, LACADA is especially appreciative of restaurant EG Nick’s, which has been involved in the event since its inception and also is marking its 25th anniversary of participation. “Jeff (Ryeson, owner) and EG Nick’s has been there every year for us without fail,” said Walker. “They’re very community minded.”

Attendees will browse the offerings made by participating restaurants, who will be providing their signature dishes and other options. “They all do a special sampling, and they’ll all be set up for people to come in and try all of them,” said Walker.

Along with the food, the Taste of Lapeer will also feature a 7p.m.live auction with dozens of items donated to the event by the community. Items this year include wine tastings and tours, spa packages, health and fitness/yoga packages, a cooking class for 10 with Chef Mike Romine of the Mulefoot Gastropub in Imlay City, a hunt at the Hunter’s Creek Club, jewelry, artwork and sporting event tickets.

As of press time, a limited number of tickets remain available online at lacada.org/events/taste-of-lapeer. Limited tickets may also be available at the door.
