Lapeer Days book sale at Marguerite begins Monday

LAPEER — The Friends of the Marguerite deAngeli Library have had a book sale during Lapeer Days for more than 35 years. Next week the sale returns.

The Book Sale team members have been sorting books all summer and have thousands of books looking for new homes. There will be books inside the library as well as under the tent on the front lawn.

The sale runs Aug. 14-19 at the deAngeli Library in Lapeer. The sale on Monday, August 14 opens to the public at 1 p.m. and closes at 7 p.m. Other sale days are Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 18 is half-price price day and Saturday is “Bag for A Buck.” Additional items will be added Tuesday through Thursday.

Patrons are asked if they have a large quantity of books to donate to wait until after the sale. They will be used for an Oct. 23–28 sale.

MSU Extension to offer 15-week Master Gardener Volunteer Class

IMLAY CITY — The MSU Extension Office in Lapeer County is offering a new course for those interested in becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer. The Master Gardener Volunteer Class will begin Aug. 24 and run for 15 weeks, to Dec. 7.

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Heritage Church – Imlay City Campus (543 N. Cedar St.). Participants will receive their comprehensive Master Gardener training manual and class schedule on the first day of class.

The Master Gardener Volunteer class application deadline is Aug. 16. Interested participants are encouraged to apply early, and pay by credit card. Seating is limited. For questions on the registration process, contact Jackie Delisi (delisija@msu.edu) or 989-751-0230.
