Robo-Con Festival to be held July 22 at Center for Innovation

LAPEER — Drive a robot, decorate your very own set of safety glasses, learn basic coding and much more all at the fourth annual Robo- Con Festival of Robotics & STEM Learning, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 22 at the Lapeer Center for Innovation (formerly Lapeer West High School).

The free event features hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities for all ages, exhibition robotics matches and the opportunity for guests to drive robots.

Woodshed All Stars to perform this evening in downtown Lapeer

LAPEER — The Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the Lapeer Downtown Development Authority, continues this evening (July 13) with a performance by rock ‘n roll band Woodshed All Stars at the courthouse square on Nepessing Street from 6:30-8 p.m.

Next week (June 20) Jaime Marvin will perform, while on July 27 the concert series will feature local duo Davis Green.

Program on Oakdale offered on July 18 at library

LAPEER — Marguerite deAngeli Library, 921 W. Nepessing St. in Lapeer, will present an Oakdale history and cemetery tour at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 18. Following the program, participants will walk to Oakdale’s remaining cemetery.

Center to the Arts hosts playwright workshop

LAPEER — Michigan-based playwright and four-time nominee for the Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association Award, Joseph Zettelmaier, will hold a workshop at the Center for the Arts from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 15.

The workshop is open to anyone, no previous playwriting experience necessary. Register for the workshop by calling the Center for the Arts 810-664- 4824. The Center for the Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost for the workshop is $20. This workshop is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Nerf games for kids at Goodland Twp. Library

GOODLAND TWP. — On Friday, July 21 the Goodland Township Library will hold Joel Tacey’s NERF GAMES at 4 p.m. Participants will be able to use various Nerf toys to knock each other out of the game. This event will be held outside of the township hall and library at 2370 N. Van Dyke. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children. Beverages will be provided.

This is a free event, but seating is limited to 50 people. Registration is required. Call 810- 721-2110.
