Milnes Ford test drive during Expo supports fireworks

LAPEER — Four years ago, Milnes Ford employee Zach Gregory approached Neda Payne about a fundraiser called Drive 4 UR Community, which led to a partnership between the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce and the dealership, and takes place each year during the Spring Expo. Ford provides posters, flyers, banners, T-shirts and, of course, the cars, while the Chamber provides the location. The agreement entails that each person (per household) that registers for a test drive at the Spring Expo will net the Chamber $20 toward the fireworks fund for Lapeer’s Fourth of July celebration.

Milnes is set to return to the 2017 Spring Expo once again, helping to raise funds for this year’s fireworks display. Each year, the Chamber does their best to put on a spectacular show for the Fourth of July. However, launching all of those wonderful explosives can be costly. Many residents mistakenly believe that the fireworks are covered by tax dollars, but this is unfortunately not the case, and with each year’s display costing tens of thousands of dollars, fundraising for the display has become necessary. In just three years, Milnes Ford’s Drive 4 UR Community event has helped to raise more than $10,000 for the fireworks displays.

Said Payne, “Spring Expo attendees can take a brief test drive in a beautiful new Ford vehicle and help not just the Chamber of Commerce to raise funds, but also help provide Lapeer with a great fireworks display. So, come out, have fun, take a drive in a brand-new Ford and support the fireworks.”
