3rd Degree Burns in concert Saturday to raise money for tour
HADLEY — The music school/ performance group 3rd Degree Burns is gearing up to perform at Davison High School on Feb. 18 from 6-9 p.m. in order to raise money to support the coming year’s tour, entitled “Guardians of Rock.”
“It’s two weeks before the show and it’s the craziest it’s ever been in 12 years,” said Gary Burns, manager and director of the group.
Burns noted that the tour’s name is indicative of how the kids attending the music school come to see themselves as they learn and improve their musical skills.
“It’s young kids playing classic rock — it’s like a schtick,” said Burns. “People don’t expect these kids to come out and play all these classic songs, but that’s what it is, and they come to think of themselves as kind of guarding this music, bringing it into the future.”
This performance is the 10th such event, and crowds are expected to reach more than 400. “All of it is meant to raise money for the coming year,” said Burns. The Feb. 18 concert will feature several other attractions other than a performance by the band. “There are multiple prizes,” said Burns. “A 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction, silent auctions, and of course the big one — a $1,000 Visa gift card that someone will win.”
Tickets for the event are $5, and can be either purchased at the door or in advance by calling Burns at 810- 441-6672. For more information, visit www.y-m-c.org.
