OREGON TWP. — Saturday is the day for the second annual Lost in the Woods Music Festival at Torzewski County Park.

The event, presented by DB’s LIVE, will begin at noon and last until about 10 p.m. Local musicians that will be performing include Fearless Shadows, Dr. Greenteeth and $2 Wells, Untamed Beauty, Chris Eilersen, Julia Wiles, Exit 155, Jaime Marvin, Jarod Van Wagoner, Superworm, Band of Brothers, and Davis Green and the Rippety Snap. There is no cost for admission, though donations will be accepted for a number of organizations in which the employees and volunteers work hard on a daily basis to meet the needs of victims of domestic abuse, drugs, sexual assault and more, including Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Assault (LACADA), Families Against Narcotics (FAN), the Child Advocacy Center, Community Mental Health (CMH) and Victim’s Rights.

Last year’s inaugural event took place in September, and the weather didn’t cooperate, keeping people from attending. This year, it’s been bumped up a month, and organizer Bob Wells decided not to charge admission, though he is hoping people will donate to the local organizations involved with the event.

Wells, a detective-sergeant with the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Dept., came up with the idea for the festival last year. He plays in a local band and decided he wanted to do something to help raise awareness about what these organizations do for the community, and a music festival seemed like just the thing.

“All of our musicians are volunteering their time and talents, so my overhead is low. We will be collecting donations that will go 100 percent directly to these non-profit organizations,” said Wells. “People should attend because it’s a family-friendly environment, we are raising money and awareness for worthy causes, and giving exposure to our local musicians.”

Torzewski County Park is located 2051 Pero Lake Rd., Lapeer. Please note that while the waterpark will be open, it is not included in the festival. Regular fees apply there.
