What’s Up?

You’re invited to candidate’s forum Friday evening at sportsmen’s club

ARCADIA TWP. — Fourteen candidates — 11 Republicans and three Democrats — are competing for your vote in a special Nov. 3 primary election for the opportunity to move on to a March 8 general election to become your next state representative for the 82nd House District.

In an effort to provide you an opportunity to see and hear from the candidates, including Todd Courser who filed to run for the seat he just resigned from, the Lapeer County Tea Party will host a candidate’s forum Friday (Oct. 2) at 7 p.m. at the Lapeer County Sportsmen’s Club on Lake George Road (north of Bowers Road) in Arcadia Township.

The Republican candidates expected to be in attendance include: Courser, Russell Adams, Jake Davison, James DeWilde, Rick Guerrero Jr., Gary Howell, Ian Kempf, Allan Landosky, Jan Peabody, Sharna Cramer Smith and Chris Tuski. Democrats running are R.D. Bohm, Margaret Guerrero DeLuca and Eric Johnson.

This will be an opportunity for you to ask questions of the candidates. Those who attend will write their question (one per attendee) on an index card that will be collected by event organizers.

Chief Circuit Court Judge Nick Holowka will serve as moderator.

Candidates will be seated alphabetically at a table with a name sign in front of them. Each candidate will have 2 minutes for an introduction. All questions from the audience will be directed to the candidates by Judge Holowka.

Each candidate will answer the same question, with the starting question rotated to the next person. Candidates will have 1 minute to answer the question. A 15-second rebuttal will be allowed if one candidate mentions another candidate specifically by name.

At the conclusion, each candidate will have one minute to close.
