ROBERT ERNST ANDERSON
He was born May 24, 1931, in Detroit, to parents Edgar and Alice (McCarthy) Anderson. Robert served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He returned home and married Joan Shirley Trybus on
November 3, 1956 in Detroit.
Robert worked as a Private Branch Exchange Technician for Michigan Bell for 36 years, retiring in 1991. He has been a man passionate about his faith, represented by his membership with Immaculate Conception Church since 1970. From Mr. Anderson’s service in the Navy to his love for traveling the states, he was very patriotic. He found his travels to create an interest in visiting lighthouses. Robert was an avid reader, fan of Tiger baseball and above all, enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Anderson; children, Michael (Kimberly) Anderson of Rochester Hills, Robert Anderson of Spring, TX, Mary Ann Anderson of Woodlands, TX, Ronald Anderson of Lapeer, Joseph (Stephany) Anderson of Brighton; grandchildren, Stefan, Adam and Lauren; siblings, Dennis (Dorothy) Anderson of Leesburg, FL, Charles Anderson of The Villages, FL.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Peggy Sayed, Lois Gurchieck, Edward Anderson, Billy Anderson; and his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Bishop Kelley School, Lapeer or Vitas Care Hospice, Houston, TX.
Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary prayer 7 p.m. Thursday, all at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the service (directly at the church). Burial will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
