Almont DDA holds scarecrow contest

ALMONT — “Raider Pride” is the theme of the Almont Downtown Development Authority’s 6th Annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest.

Scarecrow skeletons are available for $10 through the DDA office, or for those who have a skeleton from last year, contest entry is free.

Almont DDA Director Nancy Boxey said $100, $75 and $50 cash prizes will be awarded to the best three scarecrows in Almont. The scarecrows will be judged at noon Oct. 12 at the Almont American Legion Hall at 117 School St.

“What better way to celebrate being an Almont Raider or community member than creatively showcasing our local teams, clubs, classes, local landmarks and businesses and community groups,” Boxey asked.

All scarecrows will be on display in downtown Almont through the end of November. All the contest information at the DDA’s, website at www.almontdda.com.
