LAPEER — Today and tomorrow are the last days to get advance tickets to the biggest event of the weekend, the inaugural View Brew Fest. Advance tickets save money, and VIP tickets to Friday and Saturday’s events come with a lot of extra goodies.

Whether you’re a fan of micro brewed craft beers, a supporter of the Lapeer County Hockey Association, or if you’re just looking for a really good time, the View Brew Fest is the event of the season, and it’s all happening this weekend at Louie’s Sports Tavern in Lapeer.

The main day of events, which centers around sampling craft beers from around the state and country, takes place Saturday from 2-11 p.m. Along with the vendors serving samples of micro brews, there will also be live music, food and lots of fun to be had. Friday night at Louie’s a special VIP event is taking place for special ticket holders.

The View Brew Fest is both a fundraiser for the Lapeer County Hockey Association and a chance to celebrate the Lapeer Area View’s 10- year anniversary. Of course it is also a celebration of craft beers, and there will be a lot of them at the event.

Microbrew beers from around the state and the country will be present and served during the View Brew Fest on Saturday, giving patrons (21 or older) a chance to sample any number of delicious brews both inside and outside of Louie’s, finding just the right ones for them. In total, there will be more than 20 vendors at the View Brew Fest serving cold brews.

There will also be delicious food on the menu and live music and DJs providing the entertainment throughout the day.

Craft beers to be sampled at the View Brew Fest on Saturday include Saugatuck, Arcadia, Latitude 42, Jolly Pumpkin, Griffin Claw, The Hideout, Schmohz, Dragonmead, Kuhnhenn, Right Brain, Perrin, Bell’s, Tri-City Brewing, Mt. Pleasant, North Peak, New Holland, Rochester Mills, Shorts, Greenbush, Oddside, Atwater, Frankenmuth, and Keweenaw.

Funds raised through the View Brew Fest will go toward the Lapeer County Hockey Association, which provides area children with a chance to get involved in the sport at the Polar Palace.

The View Brew Fest runs from 2-11 p.m. at Louie’s Sports Tavern in Lapeer on Saturday. The night before, a special VIP Night event from 6-8 p.m. will give ticket holders an even better private experience to sample craft beers.

The VIP Night will include appetizers, two free drinks of choice, a silent auction with plenty of interesting beer memorabilia, guest speaker Rex Halfpenny from the Michigan Beer Guide, live music courtesy of talented bands, and the Tap Throw-down between two breweries. VIP tickets also include entry into the main event on Saturday and a special souvenir glass for beer samples, a T-shirt, and three drink tokens.

Tickets for the event purchased in advance cost $15, and tickets will be $25 at the door. Tickets for the VIP Night event cost $60.

Tickets are available for purchase at Louie’s Sports Tavern, The County Press - Lapeer Area View office, the CMS (Marathon) gas station on Lake Nepessing Road, and Jim Riehl’s Friendly Automotive.
