Lapeer County Democrats meet tonight in Lapeer

LAPEER — A biologist will be speaking about fracking at the next meeting of the Lapeer County Democrats on June 27. This topic should be of interest to Lapeer County residents as many farmers have been approached about allowing drilling for natural gas or oil on their property.

Fracking has existed in the vertical form for many years, but this discussion will describe the new, horizontal fracking that forces water laden with chemicals miles in many directions underground.

The Democrats meet for a potluck at 6 p.m. and the short fracking presentation will begin at 7 p.m. There will be a business meeting following the presentation. The meeting and presentation will be at the Lapeer Center Building.
