METAMORA TWP. — Tickets are still on sale for Gallery 194’s annual Art in the Garden event, taking place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of a historic Metamora country estate.

Guests at the secret location will be treated to a beautiful country estate garden setting, where nationally acclaimed artists such as Sally Theilen, Kim Santini and Carolyn Dulin will show their work alongside regional artists Don Bullis of Grand Blanc, Molly Jones from Fenton and Miriam Marcus of Flint. Some talented local artists contributing to this year’s event include Deb Keene, Dale Vronch, Caren Huizenga, Mike Monville and Jacquie Piechowski.

There will also be artists from the Flint Underground like Paul Everett and Julie Moore painting with mixed media, alongside Romeo watercolor painter Robert Lionda. Gallery art students are welcome to bring their easels along with their tickets if they would like to paint independently.

“In 2012 we put a fresh perspective on our fundraising efforts with a satellite visual art gallery representing 25 to 30 past featured artists and friends,” said Linda Jackman, garden party coordinator. “We’re taking Gallery 194 on the road!” Jackman added the event will also showcase the literary, musical, healing, culinary and horticultural arts.

Sweet and savory treats from Blondie’s Sweet Boutique and Louie’s Sports Tavern will be on hand for guests to enjoy as well, along with with intermittent storytelling, poetry reading and spoken word artists performing throughout the afternoon.

Healing artist Shawn Sinclair will also be working in the gardens that day and Gallery 194 Director James Alt will be strolling the estate performing close up and sleight of hand magic.

James described the event as an adventure in the countryside. Patrons will turn in their tickets over in Historic downtown Metamora near the White Horse Inn and receive an event program with map, artist statements and a schedule of the day’s events. They will head two miles to the secret Art in the garden estate at that point.

“An important part of Gallery 194’s mission is to make art and the creative experience accessible to everyone; therefore we keep our artwork, classes and fundraising ticket prices affordable: $12 in advance and $15 the day of the Garden Party,” Alt said. “Although the art is for sale with a portion of the purchase price supporting gallery art education and capital improvement, the afternoon’s experience with food, music, art, country vistas and more is all included in the ticket price!”

Tickets are on sale at Gallery 194 and the PIX Theatre Box Office. The public can stop in to buy tickets or call 810-667-1495 to purchase tickets with a credit card over the phone. Gallery 194 is located on the corner of Court and Nepessing streets in downtown Lapeer. Information is available on Gallery 194’s Facebook page.
