Easter egg hunts abound Saturday across county
LAPEER COUNTY — Lapeer County children will have the opportunity to fill their baskets with candy on Saturday, as there are a number of Easter egg hunts happening around the county that day.
Lapeer Community Church’s annual Easter egg hunt will be at 11 a.m. on the historic courthouse lawn in downtown Lapeer. It was originally scheduled for last Saturday but organizers decided to make use of the bad-weather date in hopes that it will be a little warmer for the kids.
The hunt will include more than 20,000 candy-filled eggs, inflatable bounce houses, slide and obstacle course, hot dogs, popcorn and a free raffle to win an inflatable rental.
In Deerfield Township, Country Christian Church will be hosting its annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The hunt is open to the public and is divided into age groups, with the youngest kids going first. Children collect the eggs and then turn them in for candy and prizes. Average attendance is about 400 kids at this community outreach event.
Attendees are advised to dress for the weather. Call the church at 810-793-7417 for more information. Country Christian is at 5677 N. Lapeer Rd. in Deerfield Township.
Finally, on the east side, there will be a “candy hunt” sponsored by the Almont Lions at 11 a.m. sharp Saturday in Almont Community Park. Hot dogs and drinks will be served afterward.
