Stand-up comedy show Saturday
LAPEER — “If you don’t laugh at this show then it is time to call the undertaker.” That’s what the PIX Theatre in downtown Lapeer is saying about Saturday’s stand-up comedy show, Laughter in Lapeer.
“This show has three of the funniest comics in the Great Lakes region,” said Craig Martin, executive director of the PIX.
Starting the evening out with lots of laughs will be host and opener Dave Bell. A regional comedian, Bell recently performed at the Dow Theatre and, according to Martin, is worth the ticket price even on his own.
Following Bell will be comedian Kate Brindle, who Martin described as being a “deadly combination” of “great, beautiful and funny.” Following Bell will be a short intermission, during which time audience members can stretch their legs or refill their glasses.
The PIX obtained a liquor license for the evening, so adult beverages will be served throughout the performance.
During the second half of the show, headliner Dwayne Gill will bring his hilarious stand-up routine to the PIX stage. “Dwayne Gill is not only funny, he is hilarious. Dwayne covers a lot of topics in is act, including the fact that he is a cop,” Martin said, describing Gill as one of the funniest comedians he has ever seen. “I first heard Dwayne a few years ago and I almost had to leave to just catch my breath I was laughing so hard.”
“I saw the same show and Craig is right — Dwayne is very funny,” said assistant director Amanda Schroeder.
“This promises to be another great night at the PIX, and a great way to spend an evening with your friends and your sweetheart,” Martin said. “This is really a show you don’t want to miss. If you don’t laugh we will call the appropriate parties.”
