At the PIX on Saturday

Saline Fiddlers bring musical fusion to stage

LAPEER — Back by popular demand, the Saline Fiddlers will perform at the PIX Theatre on Saturday (Feb. 25) for a night of rural music and impressive talent from a group a young musicians.

The Saline Fiddlers sell out almost everywhere they play, and The PIX is no exception. This amazingly talented bunch of string players from Saline, Michigan are considered “America’s premier youth fiddling show band”. They play a fusion of folk, bluegrass, mountain music, western swing, Celtic tunes, and American classics. The group is led by artistic director Ben Culver.

The performers, all students at Saline High School, earn their places through competitive auditions based on musical ability and personal integrity. Each Fiddler balances academics, sports, school organizations, church activities, jobs and social lives with this demanding commitment to music.

Since forming in 1994, the group has had more than 1,000 performances all over the United States and several foreign countries. They have been honored to perform three times at the White House and twice on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, as well as at the State of Michigan’s Presidential Inaugural Ball in January 2001. The last time they performed at the PIX Theatre they sold out, so guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets early before they are all gone.

The Saline Fiddlers will perform Saturday at the PIX Theatre starting at 7:30 p.m.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. for seating and concessions. Presale tickets are available at the PIX Box Office and cost $20 for adults or $18 for students and seniors. At the door, tickets will cost $24 for adults or $22 for students and seniors. For more information or tickets, go online to www.pixlapeer.org or call 810-664- 4824.
