Murphy students raise money for Make-a-Wish Foundation

LAPEER — Elementary students at Murphy raised $444 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation last month by writing letters to Santa and mailing them to Macy’s Department Store. Macy’s holds an annual fundraiser each year called the Believe Program. Through the program, Macy’s donates $1 to the Foundation for every stamped letter to Santa that they receive in the mail. A total of 444 students at Murphy Elementary wrote and mailed letters to Macy’s in support of the program.

Lynch prepares for annual talent show Jan. 25-26

MAYFIELD TWP. — Staff and students at Elva Lynch Elementary School are preparing for the school’s annual talent show where students are given the opportunity to perform and entertain their classmates, friends and family members. Auditions for the talent show will be held on Jan. 25 and 26. As a special treat this year, auditions are open to students’ entire family. The theme of this year’s talent show at Lynch Elementary is “The ‘80s and ‘90s.”

Popcorn day for students

MAYFIELD TWP. — Mayfield Elementary School will hold two Popcorn Day events this month. The first Popcorn Day will be held on Friday, Jan. 6. The second event will be on Friday, Jan. 20. There will also be a Literacy night event at Mayfield Elementary on Friday, Jan. 27 starting at 5 p.m.

North Branch holds blood drive, parent teacher conferences on Jan. 12

NORTH BRANCH — North Branch High School will hold a blood drive on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the school. Following the blood drive, parent teacher conferences will be held at North Branch High School on Thursday, Jan. 12 in the evening. The conferences provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to meet with one another, review students’ individual work, and promote a thorough education both in the school and at home. Parent teacher conferences for the middle school will be held in the evening on Thursday, Jan. 26.
