Lynne Koplitz to perform Saturday at the PIX

LAPEER — Famous comedian and all around funny girl Lynne Koplitz will perform stand-up comedy at the PIX Theatre Saturday (March 19). The show, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will likely draw large crowds to see the comedian.

Koplitz, originally from New York, began her stand-up career after college and quickly gained recognition. She has been featured with a number of her own specials on Comedy Central, including Premium Blend. She has also been featured on the show History of the Joke on History Channel with fellow comedian Lewis Black and was co-host of the show How to Boil Water on the Food Network. Most recently, Koplitz joined the reality TV series Joan Knows Best with Joan and Melissa Rivers.

Her style of comedy centers around observational humor, pointing out the obvious and absurd in everyday life. Her jokes include funny stories from her past, growing up in New York, observations on men and women and relationships.

In a part of her routine, talking about a very thin roommate she had, Koplitz says, “She actually asked me for four grapes once. She counted grapes. What kind of mental patient counts grapes? Do you know anyone who does that? That’s the weirdest thing. I was like, “Four grapes ...’ To me grapes aren’t even a food. They’re like a palate cleanser. That’s what I eat to get the Big Mac taste out of my mouth.”

The PIX Theatre says, “Prepare to laugh until it hurts ... This is going to be a night to get a baby sitter and have an adult night on the town. Your sides will ache from laughing.”

There will also be a surprise opening act for the show.

Tickets for Lynne Koplitz’s stand-up show are on sale at the PIX Theatre in downtown Lapeer. Presale tickets cost $25 for adults or $24 for students and seniors. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $28 for adults or $27 for students and seniors. For more information, call the PIX Theatre at 810-664- 4824.
