Winter hours begin at senior center

NORTH BRANCH — The North Branch Senior Center returns to winter hours in October. The center will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Each day, there are card games, Wii games, puzzles, board games, books and magazines to read or take home, woodworking, refreshments, an indoor walking "path," friendly people to talk with, a weaving group, gardeners and other activities.

Several special events are planned for October.

Thurs., Oct. 14 at 11 a.m., Prudential Insurance will present information on health-related topics, including Medicare and Long Term Care. Bring your questions. The public is invited. A free dinner will be provided.

Reservations must be received by noon on Tues. Oct. 12. Make reservations by calling the North Branch Senior Center and leaving your name and telephone number for each reservation. The Center phone number is 810-452-1011.

On Thurs. Oct. 21, Lapeer County EMS will be at the Center all day to take blood pressure and do glucose checks. Stop in!

The monthly potluck takes place at noon on Thurs. Oct. 28. Following lunch, seniors are invited to join the fun by playing White Elephant Bingo.

The computer room is available every Tuesday and Thursday. Tues. Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pam from the Lapeer District Library will conduct a drop-in lab.

The North Branch Senior Center is located in the former elementary school building with entrance on Banker St. The facility is handicapped accessible. Details: 810-452-1011.
