United Way partners to feed Lapeer families

United Way of Lapeer County would like to thank Lapeer County residents who made a contribution to the Michigan United Way Fund Income Tax Check-off Campaign during this year's tax season. The first year of this effort brought in over $220,000 across the state for basic needs, including food, clothing and shelter.

In our area, for 2010, United Way of Lapeer County will partner with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to supply local food pantries across Lapeer County with fresh wholesome food for families in need.

The United Way Fund was created to help low to moderate income Michigan families with basic needs like food, clothing and shelter. Donors were able to indicate if they wanted to donate all or part of their Michigan tax returns on form 4642 of their state income tax return. All money donated will directly benefit needy families in Lapeer County. For information about locating a participating food pantry, contact United Way's Help Center at 810-667- 3114.
