Cardinals fall to BWAC power

RICHMOND
— Dryden found out the hard way just how good the Richmond Blue Devils are, losing, 26-4, in action played on Saturday at Striker’s Lanes. The Cardinals, which fall to 0-4 on the year, won the opening Baker game, 177-147, before falling on hard times and dropping the second Baker, 214-136.
The Blue Devils won four of the first five singles games in both team’s events, giving them points for total pin count as well. Dryden was led by Brad Anderson, who rolled games of 195 and 240. He beat his opponent in the first game by one pin. Joey Felker finished with a 183 and 175, Joe Drexler had games of 191 and 160 and Zach Miller had a 175. Zach Powell rolled a 160, Jacob Lukas had 141, and Truman Jones bowled a 139.
BROWN CITY The Brown City teams cruised to wins over Deckerville in Upper Thumb Bowling Conference action with the boys pulling out an 18-12 win and the girls blanked the Lady Eagles, 30-0. Dalton Jaeger led the boys with a 269 and 209, for a two-game series of 478. Other top scores included Shawn Busch with a 170, Chris Edwards had a 211, and Shane Paeth had a 193. The boys lost to Carsonville-Port Sanilac, 20-10. In the match, Edwards had a 219, Paeth fired a 210 ,and Jaeger finished with a 196. On the girls side, Brown City was led by Kim Deming with a 147 and 158, Evelun Nieman had a 176 and Kayla Cote rolled a 159 and 158. Jessie Wisniewski rolled a pair of 148 games, Ashley Rupa had a 147, and Krystal Novinski had a 145.
LAKEVILLE
In week eight of the Genesee Area Conference schedule, the Falcons boys’ went to war with Durand Saturday, besting the Railroaders by a total pin count of 1,823-1,736. Leading the charge for LakeVille was Marl Lackney at 189 and 181, Jordan Hager had scores of 178 and 210, and rolling a 182 and a 177 was Brendan Acre.
Lady Luck was also smiling on the LakeVille girls team over the weekend, defeating Durand 1,617-1,498. Especially impressive for the Lady Falcons was Miranda Rhea with games of 193 and 191, Samantha Poppenfuse came through with a 187 and a 162, and throwing a 159 and a 141 was Britnee Motter. The Falcons are currently tied for fourth in the GAC at 4-3 with Goodrich and Beecher, while the LakeVille girls are second at 6-1 behind Mt. Morris.
LAPEER EAST
Metro League rivals collided Saturday as the Eagles boys’ team took on Kearsley, losing, 22-8, as Brad Whitaker shot a 250 and a 257, Tyler Graham had scores of 235 and 214 and tossing a 223 was Dan Lyera. The Lady Eagles also went up against the Lady Hornets, falling, 28-2. Jenniffer Eskridge was East’s lone bright spot against an otherwise hazy background, coming in at 183 and 193, not far behind was Justice Schihl with games of 160 and 163, and Jessica Aubert threw a 147 and a 153. Diane Sexton was also in the mix for the Lady Eagles at 174.
East boys are 1-6 Metro while the girls are 3-4.
