Konschuh fundraiser

ELBA TWP. — Join the committee to re-elect Prosecuting Attorney Byron Konschuh for a post New Year/ Pre- Valentine’s Day benefit bash from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14. The event, which will be at Castaways on Lake Nepessing, will feature a buffet, entertainment and refreshments. Tickets are $25 per person.

Paws to remember

LAPEER — Mark your calendar now for the 5th annual Paradise Animal Rescue Project Warm Paws Gala Event 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Lapeer Center Building. The gala will include food, dancing, live music and drinks. Also part of the fun is a silent auction.

Paradise Animal Rescue is a nonprofit animal shelter in Deerfield Township. It is run on donations by volunteers. Tickets or details: 810- 793-5683. House of Hope exercise room hours

NORTH BRANCH — The Community House of Hope exercise room at County Christian Church, 5677 N. Lapeer Rd., will be open to the public during the following times.

Women — 3-4 p.m. Monday; 9-10 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. Tuesday; 10 a.m.- noon and 3-4 p.m. Wednesday; 5-7 p.m. Thursday; 10-11 a.m. Friday.

Men — 10 a.m.-noon Monday; 2-4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

Co-ed — 7-8 p.m. Thursday and 10

11 a.m. Saturday.

Winter open house

OXFORD — The Goddard School, 55 Gateway Dr., hosts a Winter Wonderland open house 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 23. Children of all ages are welcome. Details: 248-628-6268.

Community Center, open swim hours

LAPEER — The Lapeer Community Center, 880 S. Saginaw St., is offering special open swim hours during holiday break now through Sunday, Jan. 3. Open swim will happen daily 1:30-4 p.m.

New Year’s Eve hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. New Year’s Day hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m.

After the holidays, register for winter classes. City residents can register starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6. Pass holders can register starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 and everyone else can register starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9. Registration after that will continue daily, pending available space. Classes begin the week of Jan. 25.

Volunteer training

LAPEER — The Pregnancy Resource Center will offer volunteer training for women interested in Christian-centered volunteer service to women and families. The 22-hour volunteer training seminar takes place at the center, 1715 Imlay City Rd. 5:45-10 p.m. Jan. 21, 25, 28 and Feb. 1 and 4. Registration is required. Details: 810-667-0055.

OCP needs donations

LAPEER — Operation Care Package is in need of donations for their camo angels Cure All Kits, which will be sent out in January. Suggested donations include chicken noodle soup, warm blankets, band aids, asprin, Rolaids and more. The camo angels hope to collect enough goods to send out 400-600 care packages to troops all around the globe.

The group has been sending hundreds of packages since 2005. The items will be packed during a packing party, which the public is welcome to attend, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the camo angels “bunker,” 3529

TEA party meeting

LAPEER — The Lapeer Tea Party Patriots will hold their monthly public meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Maple Grove Church, 148 Maple Grove Rd.
