Arlene Kay Bauman, 59, of Almont passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008. She was born on August 11, 1949 in Lapeer, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Perlberg) D’Arcy. She was a 1967 graduate of Almont High School and lived in Almont most of her life. She married Desmond Bauman, Jr. on October 10, 1970 in Almont.
Arlene was an avid horse lover being involved greatly in the 4-H in her early life. She had worked at TRW Vehicle Safety Systems in Washington, MI and as a mail carrier for the US Postal service. She was a passionate member of the Red Garter Gals of Lapeer and Better Breathers Club. Arlene loved life and the beauty of nature, watching the deer, geese, ducks and other wildlife from the view of her kitchen. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and could make some great meals. Her greatest love and passion were her three grandchildren, Zachery, Racheal and Chelsee.
She is survived by her husband, Desmond Bauman; daughter, Kelly Jo (Ron) Keyes; grandchildren, Racheal, Zachery and Chelsee; sister, Sharlene (Marc) Henderson; 1 niece and 5 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dorothy D’Arcy and mother and father-in-law, Desmond Sr. and Olga Bauman.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 28, 2008, at the First Congregational Church in Almont with committal service following at Ferguson Cemetery.

Edward Jake Welker (a.k.a. Jusus), 58, of Attica for the past 27 years (formerly of Pontiac) passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008. He was born on January 8, 1950 in Pontiac to Vivian “Viv” and Marjorie (Poole) Welker. He married Kimberly Gist on March 21, 1994 in Lapeer.
Ed graduated in 1969 from Pontiac Northern High School. He was a tow truck driver for Garvin Towing in Auburn Hills for 22 years. More recently, Ed worked for Jay’s Septic where he was 2007’s Salesman of the Year. Ed “Jusus” was a retired member of the Avengers Motorcycle Club he had been a member for 35 years. Ed enjoyed woodworking, gardening, antiques, Harley-Davidsons, camping, his brothers and sisters and his Pekingese, Siah.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Welker of Attica; mother, Marjorie Welker of Pontiac; siblings, Kevin (Chris) Welker of Lake Orion, Mark Welker of Pontiac and Sharon Welker-Wells of Lynnville, TN; also by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vivian R. Welker in 1983.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 4-9 P.M. at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. E.J. Fortin will officiate.

Joseph G. Weber, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008. He was born on January 20, 1935 in Detroit, the son of Joseph and Marian (Lambert) Weber.
He worked for Crest Lincoln Mercury and Star Lincoln Mercury before owning and operating Weber Construction.
Mr. Weber is survived by his children, Kimberly (Dennis) Marker of Oxford, Pamela Hurley of Chesterfield Township, Joseph (Gabriella Butcher) Weber of New Baltimore and Michael (Sheila) Weber of Leonard; grandchildren, Trisha Rizzo, Bryan, Kevin and Kyle Marker, Joey Weber; great-grandchildren, Bella and Benny Rizzo. He is also survived by his sister, Cynthia Monfils of Tustin, Michigan.

Joan Roberts, 87, a lifetime resident of Lapeer passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008. She was born on August 21, 1921 in Lapeer to Harry and Nina (Smith) Weston. She married Bryan J. Roberts Jr. on August 14, 1950 in Lapeer.
Joan was a 1939 graduate of Lapeer High School. She earned her RN Certificate after attending 3 years at the Hurly Hospital School of Nursing. Joan served her country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. After the war, Joan worked over 35 years at Lapeer County General Hospital where she held various positions. Including the Director of Staff Development. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, worked as a hospital volunteer after retirement and enjoyed doing needlework. She took great pleasure visiting and caring for her grandchildren and shared a strong comradely with her five sisters. Mom always put the needs of her family first and was a cherished friend to each of her children.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Roberts of Saline, Christie (Donald) Blink of Eau Claire, WI. And Robin (Martin Streb) Roberts of Ada; son, Charles (Anita) Roberts of Lapeer; grandchildren, Benjamin Blink, Brandon and Dylan Streb, Zachary and Hannah Roberts; sisters, June Smith of Lapeer, Helen Stone of Lapeer, Shirley (Lee) Crawford of Imlay City, Thelma Rowden of Lapeer and Bille (Joe) Krakker of Madison Heights.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Roberts; parents; brother, Carl Weston and sister, Harriat Weston.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 30, 2008 in the North Parlor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer. Immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Ralph Pieper, II officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Stiles Cemetery.

John O’Neill, 69, of Lapeer died on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. John was born on June 11, 1939 in North Branch, MI. He was the son of Russell and Velma (Garbutt) O’Neill. John grew up in North Branch on the family farm. He graduated from North Branch, Class of 1957.
On August 1, 1959 he married Marjory Montgomery at the Methodist Church in Lapeer. John was a builder and has built 175 houses. He was a member of the Home Builder’s Association for over 20 years, serving as president for five of them. He loved to hunt and fish. One of his main loves was watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
John will be sadly missed by his wife, Marjory; children, Kathleen (Jules) Reinhardt of Lapeer, Karen (William) Eckel of Lapeer, John, Jr. (Trisha) O’Neill of Wyoming and Jeffrey (Carrie) O’Neill of Lapeer; siblings, Ida Mae Comer of Fremont, Marilyn (Dennis) Burns of Vicksburg, MI and twin-brother, James (Beverly) O’Neil of Columbiaville; brother-in-law, Duane Laur of North Branch and 11 grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Cody, Kaitlin, Makaela, Jules, Andrew, Sydney, Zoey, Cameron and Mariah.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce; sister, Ruth Ann Laur; sister-in-law, Mildred and his daughter, Kristine.
Memorials may be made to the McLaren Hospice.
John’s family will be present for visitation on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 3-8 P.M. and on Saturday, November 29, 2008 from 10-11 A.M. at the Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch.

Barbara J. Waterbury, 85, of North Oaks, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2008.
A beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Survived by her husband of 62 years, Thomas; daughter, Rebecca Anderson; sons, John (Deborah) Waterbury and Christopher (Dennis Krager) Waterbury; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Arnold and Carolyn (Tom) Pembleton; special friend, Vicki White. Extended family members and friends recognized Barbara as the social grace of the family. Barbara had the unique ability to extract the best out of all she touched – she is the rich fabric that continues to bond the family.
Visitation in Lapeer will begin on Monday, from 12 Noon until the time of service at the First Presbyterian Church, Lapeer.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lapeer. Rev. Todd D. Smith will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer.

Joan M. Laidlaw, 70, of Oxford, died on November 24, 2008. Joan loved her family dearly and her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother whose greatest gift was caring for others. She was happily married and devoted to her loving husband, Gerald “Bud” for almost 50 years.
Survived by her children, William (Phyllis), David (Angela), Steven (Kathryn), Kay (Timothy) Ismond, Christopher, Kathleen (Timothy) Stull. Also survived by 15 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Sanders and Neoma Covell; along with many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald “Bud” Laidlaw and her parents, William and Helen (Goemaere) Culver.
