Who gets pie plate?
LAPEER — “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?” will be presented by extension educator Christine Venema on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 7-9 p.m. at the Lapeer County MSU Extension office, 287 W Nepessing.
The free educational workshop is open to the public and is designed to assist families with the transfer of non-titled property such as tools, furniture, dishes and photographs.
Topics include: initiating discussions on sensitive issues; identifying special objects; sharing stories about special items; determining goals of distribution; setting ground rules; and distribution options

Master Gardener class is available in January
LAPEER — Why not spend some of your dreary winter days this winter learning more about gardening? While the snow flies you can be learning about growing strawberries or starting a vegetable garden. Lapeer County MSU Extension still has room in its winter Master Gardener class. Sign up now and spend quality time with others like yourself who enjoy gardening.
Lapeer Master Gardener classes begin Saturday, Jan. 17, and run for 12 weeks. Classes meet from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each Saturday. Deadline for registrations is Dec. 31. There is a fee for the class. Join Lions Club and help community
LAPEER— Lapeer Lions Club members are looking for others to join them in the service club that does much for the community.
Members determine the type of service their club will provide to make a difference in the lives of others. If you find satisfaction in helping others, you are invited to attend meetings on the first and third Thursday of the month at the Lapeer Center Building. Free Community Tea
IMLAY CITY — Sanctuary at Maple Vista is hosting a free Community Tea Party for adults 55 and older on Monday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m. Guests will have a choice from a variety of teas and treats. Spaghetti benefit for annual mission trip
IMLAY CITY — The Good Samaritan Mission of Imlay City will serve a Spaghetti Dinner to help the annual Dominican Republic Mission Trip on Sunday, Dec.7, from 12:30-3 p.m.
Dinner is served at the VFW Post 2492 at 598 N. Almont Ave. The menu includes pasta with meat sauce, garlic bread, dessert and refreshments. A bake sale also is offered.
The admission fee is by cash donation, says John Herrera, founder of the mission. — R.A.

DRYDEN — The Dryden Historical Society is looking for cookie donations.
Cookies, ornaments, cards and more will be on sale Friday, Dec. 5, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 6, from noon-5 p.m. at the depot, 5448 Main St. Donations can be dropped off from 10 a.m.-noon on Dec. 5. — J.F.

Honor the special at MRH tree ceremony
MARLETTE — The public is welcome to the 20th Annual Tree of Shining Love Ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 7, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Marlette Regional Hospital, Seton Center Lobby.
