Robert “Don” Tschirhart, 79, of Imlay City (previously of Dryden) passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Lapeer Regional Medical Center. Robert D. Tschirhart was born on December 31, 1927 in Windsor, Canada. He was the son of Frank and Evelyn (Pineau) Tschirhart. He attended Catholic Central High School in Detroit. Don married Marjorie Jean Daley on September 2, 1950 in Highland Park, Michigan. He raised his family in the communities of Redford, Utica and Lake Orion.
Don was a reporter/columnist for the Detroit News for 40 years; he also had been an Associate Real Estate Editor and Chief City/County Bureau Editor. He also worked for the Lapeer County Press as a Guest Columnist for 4 years. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church and served as (RCIA) Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Coordinator.
Don is survived by his wife; Marjorie Tschirhart of Imlay City, 5 sons; Robert D. (Pricilla) Tschirhart Jr. of Gloucester, VA, David M. Tschirhart of Macomb Twp., Timothy J. (Jane) Tschirhart of North Andover, MA, Christopher P. (Velvet) Tschirhart of Imlay City and Gregory J. Tschirhart of Grayling, MI, daughter-in-law; Deborah Tschirhart of Troy, 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers; Frank (Shirley) Tschirhart of Florida, Patrick (Evelyn) Tschirhart of Traverse City, Paul (Debbie) Tschirhart of NJ and sister; Rosemary Farkas of Dearborn.
Don was preceded in death by his son; Kevin Francis Tschirhart and sister; Barbara Tracy.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 3, 2007 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church. Father Wayne Ureel officiated. Burial followed on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden.

Barbara Jean Zalewski, 81, of Hadley (formerly of Clawson and Troy) died Friday, August 31, 2007. She was born September 18, 1925 in Morris, Minnesota to Charles and Mabel (Peterson) Swanson. She married Ted Zalewski on August 16, 1944 in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Barbara was a mother and housewife all of her life. After the kids were grown, Barb worked as a reporter and marketing rep for the Lapeer County Press. She retired in 1990. Barb was a longtime member of the Hadley Community Church.
Barbara is survived by her son; Daniel (Lorraine) Zalewski of Clinton Twp., daughter; Caralynn Joy Zalewski of Billings, Montana, grandchildren; Elizabeth, Suzanne, Pamela and Michael, great-grandchildren; Courtney, Sarah, Vaughn and Gavin, sisters; Irene Hoeppner of Melbourne, Florida, Waldean Morrisett of Springfield, Missouri and Charlianna (Robert) Morland of Kimberling City, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Ted, parents; Charles and Mabel Swanson, brother; Charles Swanson and step-sister; Lucille Dethrow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Michigan.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Hadley Community Church, Hadley. Pastor Rich Geigert officiated. Burial was in Green Corners Cemetery, Hadley.

Evelyn Faulds, 71, of Dryden, passed away Monday, September 3, 2007 at Mercy Hospital of Port Huron. She was born on July 30, 1936 in Lapeer, Michigan. Evelyn was the daughter of Erle & Clara Mae (Forbush) Delong.
She grew up in Lapeer and graduated from Lapeer High School, Class of 1955. Evelyn married Walter LeRoy Faulds on August 9, 1958 in Dryden, Michigan, and spent all of her married life in Dryden. She was a homemaker and did some babysitting in her home. The children she would baby-sit became like an extension of her own family. She enjoyed camping and playing cards.
Evelyn was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Dryden, and a Dryden Veteran’s Auxiliary member.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Walter Faulds of Dryden, 5 brothers; Donald (Retha) Delong of Lapeer, Floyd (Sandra) Delong of Lapeer, Vern Delong Afton, Michigan, Howard (Sharon) Delong of Wolverine, Harry (Karen) Delong of Boyne City, and 2 sisters; Lucile Bliss of Lapeer, Helen (Dean) Goodrich of Attica.
She is preceded in death by a brother; Walter Delong.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Faulds Family or American Diabetes Assn.
Friends may call Muir Brothers Funeral Home where the family will be available for visiting from 2-5 & 7-9 P.M. Thursday, September 6, 2007.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 7, 2007 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City. Pastor Sue Rich with St. John’s Episcopal Church of Dryden will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden.

Lieutenant John Palacios, 57, of Imlay City passed away Saturday, September 1, 2007 at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan after an extended illness. Juan Mario Palacios was born on March 3, 1950 in Elsa, Texas the son of Jose and Maria Felicitas Palacios.
He grew up in Imlay City and he lived most all of his life in Imlay City. John was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1969. He graduated with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Mott Community College in Flint. He started working for the Imlay City Police Department on November 1, 1973; he was to retire August 23, 2007.
He was married to Leonor “Machi” Rodriguez on December 18, 1971 in San Juan, Texas. John had been employed by the City of Imlay City Police & Department of Public Safety; as part of his job, he was the DARE Officer for several years and the Liaison Officer to the schools for several years. He was a member and past president of Imlay City Eagles; Imlay City High School Board Member; I.C. Ambulance Attendant and Assistant Director; a local CPR instructor; and a friend to many in the community.
He is survived by his wife; Leonor “Machi” Palacios of Imlay City; his daughter; Angie (Keenan) Meredith of Almont, his twin sons; Tony Palacios of Imlay City and Toby Palacios of Imlay City, a granddaughter; Kali Palacios, his father; Jose Palacios of Imlay City, 3 sisters; Maria (Warren) Boyne of Imlay City, Angie (Ken) Parrish of Imlay City and Enriqueta Villanueva of Imlay City.
He was preceded in death by his mother; Maria Felicitas Palacios, his brother; Bernardino Palacios and by a sister; Paula Almendarez.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Imlay City.
