Charlotte Sophia Austin, 94, of Metamora (formerly of Rochester and West Branch) died Friday, June 15, 2007. She was born November 16, 1912 in West Branch, Michigan to William Henry and Elizabeth (Crow) Matthews. She married Nelson Eugene Austin in April 1937 in West Branch, Michigan.
Charlotte was a 4-H Instructor, Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed flowers, doing ceramics, quilting, crocheting and gardening. Charlotte was most importantly a devoted Christian and a member of Pilgrim OPC Church in Metamora.
She is survived by her children; William H. (Joyce) Austin of Davison, Daniel O. (Cindy) Austin of Metamora and Jean (Troy) Robinson of Bentonville, Arkansas, grandchildren; William E. Austin, Diana (Brad) Fritcher, Richard A. Austin, Jeni and Ryan Satchell, great-grandchildren; Brad, Arielle, Caitlin, Nicholas, Matthew and Nathan, and brother; Wayne (Betty) Matthews of West Branch.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Nelson Eugene Austin, infant daughter; Barbara Austin, parents; William and Elizabeth (Crow) Matthews, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Presbyterian Church - Missionary Fund.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 18, 2007 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Elder Ernie Monroe officiated. Burial was held at Brookside Cemetery, West Branch, Michigan.

John “Johnny” L. Bridges, 89, of Dryden (formerly of Wyandotte, Michigan) died Sunday, June 17, 2007. He was born September 22, 1917 in Gracie, Kentucky to Sheffer and Nola (Downs) Bridges. He married Norma Helen Angeloff on June 9, 1950 in Granite City, Illinois.
Mr. Bridges honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked over 30 years for the Mobil Oil Corporation in Dearborn as a semi-truck mechanic. Johnny enjoyed gardening and hunting.
He is survived by his children; Gail Marie Bridges and John L. (Carolyn A.) Bridges, II of Dryden, grandchildren; Dana, Elana and Matthew, sister; Thelma Calhoun of Cadiz, Kentucky and brother; Joel Robert Bridges of Newberry, Florida and several dear friends at Whispering Pines AFC in Lapeer.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Norma H. Bridges, parents; Sheffer and Nola Bridges, 1 sister and 1 brother.

Marie “Shirley” Mendler, 78, of Clinton Township, Michigan died Wednesday, June 13, 2007. She was born November 12, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Clara (Young) Martin.
Mrs. Mendler worked in housekeeping at the St. Joseph West Hospital in Clinton Township for over thirty years. She enjoyed cards and traveling with her friends.
She is survived by her son; Billy Mendler of Lake, Michigan, son-in-law; Dell (Kim) Garrett of Attica, grandchildren; Nicole Garrett, Matthew (Cami) Garrett, Sean Garrett, great-grandchild; Alex, siblings; Rosemary (Tom) Kubik, Marie Mendler, Kathleen Drouin, Margaret (Frank) Agnello, Arthur (Claire) Martin, Robert (Lucy) Martin and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter; Janet Garrett, parents; James and Clara Martin, siblings; Frank, Geraldine, Angela, Clara, Marilyn, James, Joe and Edward.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Church, 814 West Nepessing Street, Lapeer, Michigan 48446. Father Douglas Terrien officiated, assisted by Deacon Jerry DeShaw. Burial was held in Davison Cemetery, Davison, Michigan 48423.

Pamela Lynn Kirkpatrick, 64, of Metamora for two years (formerly of Troy, Michigan) died Saturday, June 16, 2007. She was born June 20, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Allen and Dorma Lee (McGrew) Wilson. She married Roger Kirkpatrick in Madison Heights, Michigan on December 2, 1961.
Pamela was the best wife, mother and grandmother ever. She especially loved watching her grandchildren play sports. Mrs. Kirkpatrick enjoyed watching sports and was a devoted Wing-Nut.
She is survived by her husband; Roger Kirkpatrick of Metamora, daughters; Sherri (Kevin) Bentley of Dryden, Kristi (Matt) Kearney of Dryden and grandchildren; Holly, Meghaan, Jacob, Mitchell and Justin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Allen and Dorma Lee Wilson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Genesys Hospice.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Drew Jolly officiated. Burial was held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dryden.

Helen R. Lucius, 85, of Silverwood, died Monday, June 18, 2007 at Tender Care of Cass City Nursing Home. Helen was born March 15, 1922 to Clarence and Lucretia (Harman) Tingle. She married Silverius Lucius in 1940; he preceded her in death in 1971.
Helen worked at Lapeer State Home as a Cook, she also worked on the Tuscola Extension for many years, and was a licensed cosmetologist. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and helping with 4H.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Marion (Patrick) Williamson of Big Rapids, sons; Richard (Juanita) Lucius of Clifford and John (Janet) Lucius of Silverwood, 10 grandchildren, Robin, Tammy, Lynnette, Mary, Shawn, June, Jason, Rebekah, James, and Rachel, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Silverius Lucius, 4 sisters, 1 brother and 2 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Silverwood.
The family will be present for visitation on Thursday, 1-8 and Friday, 10-11 with the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch. Pastor Jim Rich will be officiating. Burial will be in West Burlington Cemetery, Silverwood, Michigan.

Evelyn A. Reed, 89, of Deerfield Township died June 19, 2007 at home with her family. Evelyn was born December 19, 1917 in Washington, Michigan. The daughter of the late George and Anna Whiting (Wyman). She later married Donald W. Reed on March 6, 1942 in Washington, Michigan.
Evelyn was a member of the West Deerfield United Methodist Church, where she served with the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Cancer Survivors Group, and loved her flowers, quilting and crocheting. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
She is survived by her children; Gary (Sandy) Reed, Jack (Diane) Reed and Carolyn (Fred) McDowell, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Donald, and brothers; Gerald and Howard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Cancer Survivors Group.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Jansen Family Funeral Home, Columbiaville. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 22, 2007. Rev. David Rahan will be officiating. Interment at West Deerfield Twp. Cemetery.

Larry Eugene Evans, 68, a lifetime Lapeer resident died Tuesday, June 19, 2007. He was born July 11, 1938 in Lapeer, Michigan to Eugene Harry and Mildred (Evans) Evans. He married Ruth Louise Gephart at the Methodist Church in LaFollette, Tennessee on April 12, 1989.
Mr. Evans graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1956. He was a Quality Control Inspector at General Motors Corporation for thirty years, retiring in 1989. Larry liked to play cards, bowl and the Tigers. He enjoyed the cabin times at Dodge Lake. Larry especially enjoyed Muffin, his cat.
He is survived by his wife; Louise Evans of Lapeer, children; Ron (Sarah) Evans of Metamora, Linda (Dave) Sprouse of Flint, Lisa (Barry) Sutton of Metamora, 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild with 2 on the way, step-children; Scott Shelton of North Carolina, Sandra (Alan Webb) Shelton of Forest, Virginia, Karen (Rick) Burrell of LaFollette, Tennessee, Steven (Sarah) Shelton of Lapeer, former wife and friend; Alice Evans of Flint and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Eugene and Mildred Evans and grandchild; Gavin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Select Care Hospital or the American Lung Association.
Visitation will be held 9-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, June 21, 2007. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 22, 2007 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Rev. Ralph H. Pieper II will officiate. Burial will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer.
