Winery opens
new store

New DBA officers
— The Downtown Business Association has elected new officers for 2007. The new board includes Mike Manchester, First Advantage Mortgage, president; June Smitterberg, Treasure Isle, vice president; Jane Abruzzo, Blondie’s Sweet Shop, secretary; and Michelle Carrothers, LA VIEW, treasurer. — M.A.

Extension Service partners with Michigan Works!
— In an effort to accelerate the rate of development and growth of the agri-business industry in Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac and Tuscola counties, Michigan State University Extension and Thumb Area Michigan Works! have implemented a training partnership under the region’s new Agri-Business 2100 Project. Marvin Pichla, Thumb Area Michigan Works! Executive Director said, “In the 21st Century, nobody goes it progressively alone, therefore we are pleased and privileged to let our Region know that we have joined training forces with the MSU Extension offices in the four county area.”

Spam hits bank
— Customers and non-customers alike of Independent Bank have received spam emails in the last week asking that they provide personal and account information. The email provides a link and tries to convince the reader to go there to reinstate their account or services. The bank asks that customers contact the Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) at http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp or by calling 1-877-IDTHEFT. — M.A.

Christine Strasser opens office
— After years of practicing law in Detroit and Oakland County, 11-year Metamora resident and attorney Christine Strasser has relocated her law office to 4053 S. Lapeer Rd., Suite E, in Metamora, to be more a part of the community.
A general-practice attorney, she has a high focus on estate planning, wills and trusts.
Office hours are 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. but she does point out that as your legal representative, she is flexible to her clients’ needs with schedules that require time on weekends, evenings or early mornings. Just call the office at 810-678-8811 to set up an appointment.—R.C.
