William Timothy Gross, 62, of Lapeer for 5 years (formerly of Troy), died Monday, September 25, 2006. He was born December 25, 1943, in the Bronx, NY, to Edward and Irene (Baldwin) Gross. He married Brenda Davis in Winchester, PA on March 3, 1962.
Bill graduated from high school in 1961. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a UPS driver for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Bill was an avid sports nut- “Go Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Wings!!!” Bill also loved music.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gross of Lapeer; sons, William Gross, Jr. of Lapeer, John (Lori) Gross of Clarkston, Benjamin Gross of East Lansing; daughter, Mary Gross of Otter Lake; grandchildren, Chelsea and Jake; siblings, Mike (Linda) Gross of AZ, Ruby Marrow of Philadelphia, PA, Grace (Joe) Payne of NC, and Jim Gross of FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene Gross; and sister, Edra Nemmer.
A private memorial service has taken place.

Marion Davis, 80, of Imlay City, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Medilodge of Yale. Marion Ruth Carlow was born July 14, 1926, in Imlay City, to Charles and Florence (Stomman) Carlow. She married James H. Davis in Imlay City on November 12, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Marion grew up in the Imlay City area and attended Artdale School House in Attica. She was a homemaker, a member of Bethel Baptism Church, and a member of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Arthur) Contreras of Imlay City; sons, Gary (Laura) Davis of Lapeer, James Davis of Attica; grandchildren, Gregory (Kristine) Contreras, Eric (Cynthia) Contreras, Nathaniel (Kimberly) Contreras, Bret Davis, Kyle Davis, Kaitlyn Davis, John Wnuk, Preston Wnuk, Kathleen Wnuk; great-grandchildren, Wylee, Joshua; sister-in-law, Mary Bieganowski of Lapeer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Davis; parents, Charles and Florence; and sisters, Marjorie Arnold and Geraldine Carlow.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Reverend Roger Ewers of the Truth Baptist Church, Lum, officiated. Burial was held in Imlay Township Cemetery.

Mildred Crookedacre, 95, of Lapeer, passed away Friday, September 22, 2006, at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility (Suncrest). Mildred Irene Brooks was born on March 3, 1911, in Imlay City, to William and Elva (Ryckman) Brooks. She married Earl Crookedacre in Lapeer on June 2, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Mildred grew up and spend most of her life in the Imlay City and Almont areas. She attended Almont High School. She had been employed as a Nursing Assistant at the Lapeer State Home (Oakdale) for 30 years. She also worked for JC Penney’s department store as a supervisor clerk at the St. Clair Shores and Lapeer locations.
Mildred is survived by her brother, Fred Brooks of Imlay City; sisters, Luella (Roy) Hampton of Imlay City, Vera Rutherford of AZ, Olabelle Penoire of Davison, and a very special nephew, LeRoy Brooks of Ortonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Crookedacre; brothers, Frank Brooks and Ray Brooks; and parents, William and Elva Brooks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Kevin Harbin of the Imlay City United Methodist Church officiated. Interment was held at Imlay Township Cemetery.

Mildred M. Sweeney, 93, of Lapeer, died September 21, 2006. She was born May 6, 1913, in North Branch, to Anthony and Clementine (Robinet) Schlaud. She married Robert “Dick” Sweeney in Lapeer on June 26, 1937.
Mrs. Sweeney was a wonderful family woman, she will be missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela (Ralph) June of Lapeer, Sharon Perry of Columbiaville, Cynthia Pettit of Attica; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Francis (Larry) Stadwick of Thompsonville, Rosemary (Wayne) Johnson of Three Rivers; and sister-in-law, June Schlaud.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Sweeney in 1987; parents, Anthony and Clementine Schlaud; 2 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mass Cards.
Memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer. Father Richard Lewnau will officiate. Cremation has taken place, and burial will be held at Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer.

Jim McCormack, 79, of Hadley for the last 18 years (formerly of Westland), died September 21, 2006. He was born March 1, 1927, in Detroit, to Campbell and Mildred (Wagner) McCormack. He married Helen Patridge in Detroit on December 12, 1968.
Mr. McCormack was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He worked as a freight train conductor, retiring in 1977. Jim was considered a wonderful woodworker and cabinet maker; this was definitely his passion. With that knowledge, he proudly started and acted as president of Artistic Construction Company with his sons, who continue to operate the business today. All who knew Jim will remember his sense of humor, laughter, and how he was just a great person. He will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, and friends.
The McCormack family would like to thank the 3rd floor nurses from Lapeer Regional Medical Center as well as Visiting Nurse Services.
Jim is survived by his children, Linda (Jim) Crawley of CO, Diane (Mike) Sanford of CO, Michael McCormack of MI, Paul (Kathy) McCormack of Hadley, Bob (Debbie) McCormack of Hadley, Denise Nystrom of CO; step-children, Jack (Pat) McCarthy, Pat (Linda) McCarthy; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; first wife, Rejane McCormack; sister, Rulla Anne Hannan of Livonia; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McCormack in 2003; grandsons, Andrew and Jon Paul; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and parents, Campbell and Mildred McCormack.

Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside service will take place at the Daniel Britton Memorial Cemetery in Lake City.

Peggy L. Knibbe, 57, of Attica (Lum), passed away suddenly on September 20, 2006, at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint. Peggy Lee Harley was born April 26, 1949, in North Branch, to William and Carrie (Crawford) Harley. She married Hendrik “Hank” Knibbe in Imlay City on February 19, 1966.
Peggy lived most of her life in the Lum area. She attended Dryden High School. She had been employed by Imlay City Community Schools as a bus driver for 20+ years, and was planning to retire later this year. She was a member of the Imlay City Eagles.
She is survived by her husband, Hank Knibbe of Attica (Lum); son, Kevin Dale Knibbe of Attica; grandchildren, Nicholas J. Knibbe, Lana A. Knibbe, Nathan W. Knibbe, Alexis A. Knibbe; mother-in-law, Henrietta Knibbe of Sioux Center, IA; brothers, Kenneth (Elaine) Harley of Hale, John Harley of North Branch, Keith (Joan) Harley of Lapeer, William Harley, Jr. of Imlay City; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Kenneth William Knibbe in 2000 and Kelly Gene Knibbe in 2003; parents, William and Carrie Harley; brothers, Ronald Harley and Richard Harley; and sister, Vivian Schneider.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 25, 2006, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The Reverend Tom Blount, pastor of the North Goodland Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was held in Attica Township Cemetery, Lum.

April Sky Rudy, 14, of North Branch, died September 21, 2006, at Lapeer Regional Medical Center. She was born August 27, 1992, in Lapeer, to Adam Rudy and Wanda (Rose) Rudy.
April was a freshman at North Branch High School. She enjoyed playing on her computer and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her father, Adam Rudy of Columbiaville; mother, Wanda Rudy of North Branch; brother, Adam Rudy of North Branch; sister, Tiffany Rudy of North Branch; grandparents, Richard and Phyllis Rudy of Columbiaville, Ruth Rose of WI; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lapeer, where friends may visit 1 hour prior to services. Burial of cremains will take place in Otter Lake Cemetery. Pastor Todd Smith will officiate.

Glen Allen Knight, 68, of Metamora and Kailua, HI (formerly of Highland, MI), died Sunday, September 24, 2006. He was born May 27, 1938, in Highland Park, to Donald and Isobel (Charlton) Knight. He married Janet Marie Lintemoot in Mason on May 23, 1959.
Glen graduated from Lincoln High School in Ferndale with the class of 1956. He attended Michigan State University and ultimately received his bachelors degree from Wayne State University. Glen worked for 37 years in management with Standard Oil which eventually became Amoco, retiring in 1996. He loved golfing and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Jann Knight of Metamora; sons, Todd (Ruth) Knight of Grand Rapids, Brad (Debi) Knight of Grand Rapids, David “Scott” (Lisa) Knight of Danville, CA; grandchildren, Ryan, Cory, Sarah, and Kristen Knight, Tanya (Eddie) Isom; great-grandchildren, Trenton and Savanna; grand-dog, Molly; brother, Gary (Margaret) Knight of Honolulu, HI; special cousin and friends, Barbara and Lou Erdelan of Malvern, PA; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, KellÈ Knight and parents, Donald and Isobel Knight of Ferndale.
